July 7, 2010 Meeting
Members were reminded to sell the CanAM Speedway tickets for July 23 and return unsold ones to Station # 1 by July 20.
Jeff Muchnikoff, one of our deployed military members sent greetings and included a picture of a military fire truck stuck in the mud.
Plans for the Block Party (August 7, 2010) are coming along well. Chair Dave Roof asked for assistance with set up, clean up and for various projects during the party. Sign up sheets are available at Station # 1.
Scott Andrews and Sandra Bardley were received as new members.
Ralph Green was appointed by the Executive Committee as TWFD 3rd Assistant Chief. Lt. Chad Green was moved into the Captain's position of Engine 3.
An "After Action Review" was held regarding one of our recent MVAs.
Training in September will be on SCBA:

The Executive Committee requested that the Bylaw Committee bring a proposal to the August meeting to remove from the mandated 10% our EMS calls. This will NOT affect the needed 10% to receive the Annual Service Award component for call responses.
June 2, 2010 Meeting
The Fleet Committee made a presentation of a trip to the Oswego Town Fire Department.
The TWFD Auxiliary will be unable to provide refreshments at the annual Memorial Day Ceremony due to the lack of help.
The Annual Banquet had a good turn out and Ralph Green and his committee was thanked for their work.
First Assistant Chief Brian Wilcox submitted his resignation as First Assistant Chief and will remain a firefighter. Keith Clement moved to the position of 1st Assistant Chief and Bill Bamann became 2nd Assistant Chief.
Plans are well underway for the Block Party.
A Red Cross blood drive will be held at Station # 1 on June 21.
May 5, 2010 Meeting
A moment of silence was observed for past member and Chief George Carroll (CLICK FOR OBITUARY) who died April 27, 2010.
Chief Dillon and many others commented on the good turnout for George Carroll's calling hours and funeral. We had 30 members in uniforms!
Reports were received from both the Truck Committee and the Block Party Committee. Both will meet on May 11 and will bring reports to the June meeting.
Jason Compo was received as a new member.
The Memorial Day Service at the Firefighter's Monument at Brookside Cemetery will be at 5 PM.
April 7, 2010 Meeting
A moment of silence was observed for past member Clarence Waters (CLICK FOR OBITUARY) who died April 1, 2010.
The Annual Banquet will be at the Tug Hill Winery on Friday, May 14th from 6 - 10 PM. TWFD will host the monthly dinner meeting for the Jefferson County Firefighters/Fire Chiefs on October 21st.
The Hall Committee had the Meeting Room floor waxed in March and it looks great.
Several members asked the By-Law Committee to develop a change in the by-laws for us to vote on that would not count EMS calls in the needed 10% call volume. It will be presented at the May 5 meeting.
March 3, 2010 Meeting
New member Mark Hawver was introduced and led the department in the Pledge of Allegiance. We elected David Clement as Secretary. We approved the purchase of two laptop computers - one for the treasurer and one for the secretary.
We approved an SOG for the new Rope Bail Out System, as mandated by PESH.
A "Best Wishes & Stay Safe Party" for Jeff Jeff Muchnikoff will be held at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, March 10th as he deploys soon. Pizza and beverages will be served.
February 3, 2010 Meeting
Chief Dillon reviewed several of our calls in January and Billy "Load" Pfaff was commended for his quick action at the Clubhouse Restaurant kitchen fire.
Ralph Green presented the Fleet Committee's report about the Rescue Pumper they are currently getting specifications for. A full report and recommendations will be brought to the March 3rd meeting. The Fleet Committee was also asked to look over the Brush Truck and determine when replacement will be needed.
A fund raising event at Chapman's Can-Am Speedway was approved with the proceeds to go toward the purchase of Class A jackets.
January 6, 2010 Meeting
A moment of silence was observed for past member Randy J. Clement (CLICK FOR OBITUARY). Randy died on December 25, 2009 after a long struggle with cancer.
We accepted the resignation of two of our members and placed one of our members on Medical Leave.
Our annual election of officers was held. Please click the side bar on the home page "Our Officers". Once the Captains have appointed their lieutenants the page will be further updated.
We approved the purchase of "Class B" uniforms for all members who desire one. Measurements are to be given to Leon VanWie.
December 2, 2009 Meeting
A moment of silence was observed for past member Edward L. Clark. Ed died on November 15, 2009. He was a 30 year member of TWFD and a Board of Fire Commissioners member for 25 years. He also served as 1st Assistant Chief.
During the past month we have responded to several working fires. Chief Dillon complimented the members on the excellent turn out.
A Nominating Committee was set up; members include Deb Rieger, Jeff Muchnikoff and Jon Sullivan.
A committee was established to consider the structure and number of officers of our department. Members include: Chief Charlie Dillon (Convener), Vinnie Hughes, Jeff Muchnikoff, Keith Clement, David Johnston, Greg Wloderek, Art Cooley and Earl Halback.
November 4, 2009 Meeting
Executive Order ....Engine must have a minimum of 2 interior qualified firefighters plus driver before responding to incidents. If after waiting sufficient time without said qualified firefighters onboard, radio a responding chief officer for instructions.
Firefighter Frank Brooks has been deployed to Iraq and has been placed on "Active Deployed Military" status.
October 7, 2009 Meeting
At the monthly meeting on October 7th, 2009 we paused to remember Ola "Pinky" Wilson who died recently and the many contributions she made to the auxiliary and the contributions her husband made to our department in our early days.
The Exempt Organization will be updating their plaque.
The department decided to create maps of our town's fire hydrants.
We also decided to have a department photo taken in the spring.
September 2, 2009 Meeting
At the monthly meeting on September 2nd, 2009 we received a treasurer's report from Jarrod O'Dell, our newly appointed treasurer. Wayne Robbe moved out of the area and resigned as treasurer.
The 2010 Block Dance, Chaired by Dave Roof is being planned for August 7, 2010 with Swing Shift.
August 5, 2009 Meeting
At the monthly meeting on August 5th, TWFD accepted the resignation of 2nd Assistant Chief Frank Pelan. Frank and his family have relocated to the Copenhagen area. We expressed our appreciation to Frank for his leadership in our department.
Bill Bamann was appointed 3rd Assistant Chief and Keith Clement advanced from 3rd Assistant Chief to 2nd Assistant Chief.
The 2009 Block Party held on August 1st was a great success, thanks to Chair Ray Koberger and his committee. "Swing Shift" once again provided the entertainment and as they say..."a good time was had by all!"
